Question: A controlling mother

lilysuzanne - Sat Aug 27, 2005 10:58 pm

My mother-in-law is very controlling. She uses lies and guilt to manipulate. My husband and I have distanced ourselves from her for years, now my husands little brother is doing the same. However, he is now calling my husband daily. He constantly wants to get together, I think to fill the void his mother left. I'm worried about him. What is the best way to handle this? He is 33 yrs old.
Theresa Jones, RN - Sun Aug 28, 2005 10:58 am

Hi lilysuzanne,
Has your husband sat down and talked with him about any of these matters? Confronting a situation may help solving the matter. Avoiding them usually makes the problems get larger.
Sincerely,
Rntdj

you are absolutely right, thank you. My husband says I am reading way too much into the situation and his brother is paying for concert tickets, food and misc. enterainment. It just doesn't seem right to me. This never went on before.
