Question: Dothiepin

A friend of mine has just been put on dothiepin 500mg daily. She has two young children-2&1/2yr old and 4&1/2yr old. From research I have found the maximum legal dose to be given should be 225mg daily. Is she safe on such a high level and are the boys safe to be looked after her on this Antidepressant. She is a single mother or should I be calling social services into help out.

Hi meisonlyme,
My apologies for the delayed reply. The usual dosage for dothiepin (Dopress) is 75mg but may be increased up to 150mg. This should have definitely been question by you, her, and the pharmacist filling the medication.
Sincerely,
Theresa Jones, RN
