Question: Small lump in anus

Hi -
I noticed a small lump just to the right of my anal opening a few weeks ago and then thought nothing of it as it caused no discumfort and had not leakage etc.
Then I noticed it again in the bath a couple of days ago and since then it has started to get a little uncumfortable - not acutally painful, more annoying when I sit down - keep haveing to shift position - and I can feel it when I walk.
I have just had a look at it and it is black in colour (like trapping your thumb in hammer as suggested ion previous thread) but is getting a little bigger. It also appears that there is another area similar just to the side (approaching the top of anal hole) but this is not a lump, just discoloured a little.
I have read that it can be due to exercise? I have been doing more exercise over the past few weeks - sit ups and also buttock clenching - could this have caused it?
What should I do? Is there a cream I can get and what should I do if there is any blood leakage (none yet). How long will this last or how long before I should see my doctor?
Thanks for your help.

Hi gr1701,
Any unusual lump etc. warrants an evaluation by your physician. However, a condition that commonly causes a feeling of a lump or lumps on the anus is Hemorrhoids. If afflicted with this it may cause swollen lumps in the rectum, tenderness, discomfort, Itching, bleeding etc. Drinking plenty of water, and a fiber rich diet decreases Constipation or hard stools and reduces irritation.
Sincerely,
Rntdj
