My daughter has been ill since March 27th 2000. She had 1 blocked renal stone and had it removed. One month later she was bleeding from the rectum and and had hemetemisis as well. She was hospitalized for 7 days and a bipsy of her colon came back pos. for ulcerative colitis. She suffered with this problem for 2 yrs. and has not had bowel problems since. She has however passed 34 visually seen kidney stones{calcium oxolate} in the last 4 yrs. May 2002 she was diagnosed with multiple renal cysts on her left kidney. Her right kidney is clear. The cysts have not changed in size or number since then. There are 3 visual cysts 1 and 1 1/2 cm. in size. This Jan her Neph.said "we know whats wrong with her kidneys but something else is going on with her body." Our Family Dr. sent her to a urologist for chronic hematuria and bleeding from the bladder. The Urologist sent her to Vanderbilt saying he thinks she has a tumor somewhere. She has been fully developed since age 11 but never started her cycle. The Endocrinologist did extensive bloodwork including a cancer antigen test and all her hormones. Her Prolactin level came back at 50. They told me she most likely had a Pituitary tumor. The MRI did not show one on her Pituitary but did show a Pineal Cyst instead. Her Prolactin level has been checked 5 times since Jan and is rising, Now its up to 72 so we have an appt. In Winston Salem to start Bromocriptine Therapy. Her Endo. at Vanderbilt sais she's need to be monitored closely so since we've moved to NC we've had to change her Endo. Her repeat MRI showed no changes so the Endo said that is reassuring. She will have reg. MRI's. Friday a week ago my daughter was in the hospital for profuse vomiting and unbearable pain. A CT w/out constrast showed several stoned in both kidneys. Usually they don't show up w/out contrast.
My question to you is...Is there a corrolation between her Kidney , Pituitary and Pineal disorders? All her Dr.s say there is none. and send her off to another Dr. She turned 14 years old this March.
P.S. she was taking Allopurinol, Potassium citrate, and HCTZ for a yr. and a half but nothing changed so she asked to be taken off of it. Her Neph. agreed. icon_sad.gif
