Kernicterus in newborn

General Medical Discussion

Post subject: Kernicterus in newborn

If bilirubin at level 228 on day 9 and level 165 on day 13, can a graph be produced back to day 5 bilirubin to determine if late jaundice diagnosis has caused Kernicterus in my newborn child.

He now arches his back and apears drowsy. Eyes roll upwards on falling to sleep.

Very concerned that baby now has brain damage as doctors did not do bilirubin test until we noticed sleepness and yellowness on day 9. After diagnosis doctors said it was not high enough to warrant photo therapy, now concerned more mistakes made.
